The process of creating the prototype took about two months and costed General Motors 30 000 dollars, which equivalent to the current exchange rate is about 290 000 dollars. Cadillac Coupe de Ville was equipped with 8.4-liter eight-cylinder engine, which worked together with the 4-speed automatic transmission. This machine was donated to the General Motors president Charles Wilson, before he left his post as head of the Group and was appointed to the position of Secretary of Defense in 1954.
